Villa Marinha - Surface area : 450 m2

This luxurious and spacious villa is situated in the exclusive Quinta da Marinha resort overlooking the verdant golf course. Entering the villa through the elegant Doric columned portico, lit by twin lanterns, the atrium leads to a flood of light streaming through the French windows of the spacious living room ahead. Divided into two seating areas, one centred around the stone-built fireplace, the other equipped with a Satellite TV, both are bathed in the sun whilst providing seating for up to twelve people; from the comfortable sofas, the broad vista looks across the garden to the ever green fairway framed by pine trees.

To the left of the atrium the dining room is equipped with a pine table and twelve traditionally sturdy chairs; the rustic furniture in keeping with the view of the countryside from the living room. The modern, fully equipped Miele kitchen, also off the left of the atrium, comes with plenty of storage space and surfaces including a breakfast table for eight.  The tranquil garden has a table and chairs and a barbecue for al fresco cooking.

On the ground floor are also two double bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms both equally decorated with a rustic feeling, complemented by the aroma of eucalyptus and pine that floats on the breeze through the large windows. The modernity of the bathrooms contrasts with the rural ambience, but continues the minimalist theme.

Descending the stairs from the atrium, having passed a small bathroom, a second living room is found, this time opening on to the sun-baked patio; the deckchairs provide a perfect location for sun-bathing, private and sheltered from the breeze. This living room is also divided into two; one half consisting of a seating area around the fireplace and a cable TV with DVD player, the other half a games area. This equally spacious room provides seating for twelve.

Accessed from the living room on the patio level, a winding corridor, with built-in storage, leads to three bedrooms. The first is a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, the second a twin bedroom with en-suite toilet, the third a single bedroom with direct access to the garage and patio. Though the twin bedroom is windowless, this makes it very cool and, as with the other two bedrooms, there is a sense of privacy.

The master bedroom is located on the first floor, found by ascending the stairs from the atrium. A bright and airy room, the bedroom with en-suite bathroom, opens onto a private terrace with a spectacular view over the golf course; all the more impressive from this romantic balcony. The garden’s lawn blends seamlessly into the golf course, while on the other side of the house there is plenty of parking both in and out of the garage.

Getting there and around

Less than two hours flight from most European cities and seven hours from New York, the house can be reached by car or taxi from Lisbon Airport in 30-40 minutes.

Located in the protected national park of Cascais-Sintra, the property is only 4km from the motorway and so half an hour from Lisbon and its cultural attractions and night life. Taxis are available and cheap, and there is an efficient bus system from the village to Cascais and Sintra; but to get the best out of your holiday we advise car hire, as there is so much to see which is not accessible by public transport.
