The villa is in the pleasant village of Aldeia de Irmaos in Azeitão, near magnificent beaches, vineyards and historical sites. The village is at the edge of the beautiful Arrabida National Park which stretches all the way to the coastline and beautiful beaches. The Park was established to protect the beautiful landscape and rich variety of wildlife, including eagles, wildcats and badgers. There are shops and restaurants walking distance from the villa in the pleasant quiet village. Apart from Lisbon, 40km away, Azeitão, Setubal, Palmela and Sesimbra are easily reached, making the self-catering villa an ideal base for unforgettable daily excursions. |
Azeitao Palace Folly Azeitão, 2km from the villa, is a lovely village chosen by the nobility to build their Palaces and Quintas, due to its beauty, climate and abundant fishing and game. Some of these can still be visited today together with the various vineyards. Sesimbra,a short drive away, is a quaint fishing town, famous for its castle, beach and beautiful sea front. Palmela has a towering very well preserved castle. Setubal has excellent fish restaurants by the sea front and a ferry to the nearby resort of Troia. Boat trips are organized to watch the dolphins living in the Sado estuary. | | This villa is a family holiday home housing three generations and has been built with comfort and versatility in mind; a modern construction, there are many antique and family pieces which give the villa its special character and welcoming feel. | The villa was built with children's safety in minf and is ideal for families with young children as both the garden and pool are completely fenced. | Beaches 10km away is one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, ‘Portinho de Arrabida’. A sheltered cove of white sand and with pine trees as a backdrop, its quiet crystal clear waters are perfect for swimming and children, and are popular with divers for their colourful underwater life. Other sandy coves lie at the foot of the limestone cliffs. Praia da Figuerinha offers sport fishing, windsurfing, and sailing and has vast sand banks at low tide. Nautical sports For diving, the local beach has of the most interesting diving in Portugal with its grottos and abundant marine life. Sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and rowing can all be practiced in the safe bay. Golf. Gastronomy and wine tasting The region of Azeitão is famed for its gastronomy, and even the local supermarket has a mix of gourmet and standard products. The local gastronomic festival is held from June to September. Fresh grilled fish is an inexpensive delight. Five formal wine routes have been devised in the Setubal peninsula by the ‘Rota de Vinhos’ association, combining wine tasting with sightseeing, arts and nature. Arrabida National Park The mountains are ideal for walks, and organized excursions can be arranged with the local nature tour companies. In the National Park, mountain biking, fauna tours, and bird watching are organised. Orienteering, cycling tours, riding and aerial sports are available and provide new experiences for beginners and experienced alike. Casa dos Lhéus- Aldeia de Irmãos - Surface area : 250 m2
| On the ground floor, the large living room with seating for 12 leads onto the garden through two large double doors; all the modern entertaining equipment is at hand, including a large flat screen TV with international channels, DVD player, and wireless internet; the indoors dining area also seats 10 and leads onto the separate fully equipped kitchen. In the garden there is a large table for 10, barbecue, a lovely outdoor double bed for afternoon siestas and of course the 5m*3m pool. There are four bedrooms on the ground floor and one on the first floor. Ground floor bedrooms: a lovely bedroom with two beds put together to form a large double bed. (These can be separated into two twin beds); another bedroom has a bunk bed, double sofa-bed and space for a cot. The third bedroom is a single bedroom and could also take a cot. There is a large bathroom with full bath and shower attachment. Newly built in 2012, we also have a new separate bedroom with its own shower room on the ground floor; this bedroom is independent and leads directly to the garden. On the first floor there is a large mezzanine with a single bed leading to the main double bedroom which has a private terrace with sweeping green views. The large upstairs bathroom is in period style. There is ample storage space and safe parking. Cleaning twice a week is included in the price. |
Getting there and around
2 hours flight from most European cities and 7 hours from New York, the Villa is reached by car from Lisbon Airport in 1 hour. Faro airport is 2.5 hours. A car is recommended to fully enjoy the many delights of the area. |
