Sintra Monserrate Palace | Location
Quinta da Luz is a beautiful private estate, by the town of Sintra - 12km from Estoril, 15km from Cascais and Lisbon. The estate is both blissfully quiet and easily reached. This is an ideal base from which to explore the the Lisbon coast and its surroundings, with fast road access and a train station 2km away. There is a bus stop up the road, making this house a good base for a car-free holiday. The owner is also willing to help guests with transportation if neccesary. There are many beautiful beaches within 20 to 30 minutes drive. There are also 5 world class golf courses nearby; please enquire for golf packages. We are now offering private art courses to guests, please see below or enquire for more details. The Quinta stands by World heritage Sintra with its historic palaces and castle, stunning walks and drives along its forested mountain slopes. Lisbon is 15 minutes by car. There is plenty to see and enjoy locally, with pretty villages, country houses and palaces. Good restaurants abound, and there is a wealth of good music, dance and art in Lisbon with a number of festivals nearer at hand, especially in the summer. English language films show in all the cinemas and there are three large shopping malls nearby, and numerous supermarkets. |
The Guest House is a beautifully converted farm house, surrounded by 2 hectares of private gardens which the guests can enjoy. The owner lives in the grounds and is at hand for any information you may need. There is an art studio in the Quinta, which guests can enjoy, and we are now offering exclusive art courses, see below. There are two friendly dogs in the Quinta belonging to the owner. One hour daily cleaning is included in the rates. | | The Quinta is a lovely place to go for a walk, and enjoy the silence. The gardens are extensive and guest will enjoy rambling on the Estate. Guests are welcome to purchase the organic fruit and vegetables grown on the farm. There is a ping-pong table and other games for guests to enjoy in the grounds. The Quinta had own vineyards and the beautifully preserved wine vaults can be seen in the original cellar. The owner will be happy to show you around and explain the history of the Quinta, which has always been in the Luz family. | Art Courses at Quinta da Luz We are starting private art classes based in the Artists' Studio on the grounds of the Quinta, for 3 to 4 students at a time, over a full week or just a weekend; guests are taught by qualified artists in English, Portuguese, French or Spanish. Prices for a full week program are around Euro600 per person, to include airport pick up, 20 hours
tuition, two trips to the supermarket, a trip to Sintra, one dinner at the farm on day of arrival, one transport to a restaurant and and an excursion; the program can be adapted to guests requests. Along the Sintra coast you have the famous Magoito and Praia das Macas beaches, along with many others. Down to the Cascais coast there is also a wide variety of beaches, including the world famous Guincho beach, where surfing and bodyboarding are taught by qualified instructors and equipment rental is avaible at reasonable prices. Golf Information The house is situated is fantastic possition as there are 5 world class golf courses within a 10km radius. The closest is just 5 km - please enquire for golf packages. Quinta da Luz - Surface area : 100 m2
| On the ground floor, we find the living areas. The living room is spacious, comfortable, full of light, and boasts an attractive fireplace. The separate dining area sits five comfortably. The large kitchen is fully equipped and has an eating area. The private patio has its own barbecue and garden furniture. On the first floor, there are 2 bedrooms, both with two single beds. One bedroom has an en- suite bathroom, and is very large. The lovely 11 x 5.5 m swimming pool is shared with the owners but rarely used by them. The pool is quite deep, so we require that children are under constant surveillance from their parents. Satellite TV, BBQ, winter heating, and wireless internet access are also provided. The house has the advantage of having daily cleaning of 1 hour on week days included in the price. |
Getting there and around
Two hours flight from most European cities and seven from New York, the Quinta is reached by car from Lisbon Airport in 20 minutes. Guests can opt for a car-free holiday; they can be collected from the airport and shown around by arrangement; the nearest Sintra- Lisbon line train station is just 2km from the Quinta, easily accessed by bus. The Cascais-Lisbon line is also accessible by bus; the bus stop is just outside the gates of the Quinta. There is a village shop walking distance, and one of the largest supermarkets is within 3km for larger stocks. |
