The villa is in the pleasant village of Vila Nogueira de Azeitao, near magnificent beaches, vineyards and historical sites. The village is at the edge of the beautiful Arrabida National Park which stretches all the way to the coastline and beautiful beaches. The Park was established to protect the beautiful landscape and rich variety of wildlife, including eagles, wildcats and badgers. Apart from Lisbon, 40km away, Setubal, Palmela and Sesimbra are easily reached, making the self-catering villa an ideal base for unforgettable daily excursions. |
Azeitao Winery Azeitão, where the Villa is situated, is a lovely village chosen by the nobility to build their Palaces and Quintas, due to its beauty, climate and abundant fishing and game. Some of these Palaces can still be visited today together with the various vineyards. There is much to do walking distance: restaurants and shops, visit the delights of Azeitão such as the wineries of José Maria da Fonseca. Sesimbra,a short drive away, is a quaint fishing town, famous for its castle, beach and beautiful sea front. Palmela has a towering very well preserved castle. Setubal has excellent fish restaurants by the sea front and a ferry to the nearby resort of Troia. Boat trips are organized to watch the dolphins living in the Sado estuary. | | This villa is a modern contruction with many luxury features rarely available in Portugal: air conditioning, garage and electric windows to name a few. The villa is at the edge of the village, and the views at the back are of peaceful country side. | The villa was built with children's safety in mind and is ideal for families with young children as both the garden and pool are fenced. | Beaches 10km away is one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, ‘Portinho de Arrabida’. A sheltered cove of white sand and with pine trees as a backdrop, its quiet crystal clear waters are perfect for swimming and children, and are popular with divers for their colourful underwater life. Other sandy coves lie at the foot of the limestone cliffs. Praia da Figuerinha offers sport fishing, windsurfing, and sailing and has vast sand banks at low tide. Nautical sports For diving, the local beach has of the most interesting diving in Portugal with its grottos and abundant marine life. Sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and rowing can all be practiced in the safe bay. Golf. Gastronomy and wine tasting The region of Azeitão is famed for its gastronomy, and even the local supermarket, Intermarché, has a mix of gourmet and standard products; the supermarket is about 200m from the villa. The local gastronomic festival is held from June to September. Fresh grilled fish is an inexpensive delight. Five formal wine routes have been devised in the Setubal peninsula by the ‘Rota de Vinhos’ association, combining wine tasting with sightseeing, arts and nature. The villa is ideally situated on one of these wine routes. Arrabida National Park The mountains are ideal for walks, and organized excursions can be arranged with the local nature tour companies. In the National Park, mountain biking, fauna tours, and bird watching are organised. Orienteering, cycling tours, riding and aerial sports are available and provide new experiences for beginners and experienced alike. Golf Information Portugal is a paradise where the golfer can play almost every day of the year. Villa Azeitão - Vila Nogueira de Azeitão - Surface area : 160 m2
| On the ground floor, the large living room with a working fireplace and seating and dining areas for 8 leads onto the garden through a large glass door; all the modern entertaining equipment is at hand, including a large flat screen Cable TV with international channels, DVD player, and wireless internet. In the garden there is a table for 6 , barbecue,and of course the 7 x 4m, 1.3 m deep pool. The fully equipped spacious modern kitchen has a breakfast area and a door connecting to the garden. Three of the four existing bedroms are located on the first floor whereas the other one, with two single beds that can be put together to form a double bed, is in the ground floor next to the living room. Upstairs, a spacious double bed bedroom with its walk-in dressing room and en-suite bathroom with hydromassage bath makes the way for a relaxing stay. Next to the main bedroom there is a three bed bedroom with a balcony facing the garden, swimming pool and a wooded area. The fourth bedroom is for two and, like every other room in the house, has electrical shutters and air-conditioning. In addition to the downstairs WC, there is a bathroom with bath and shower upstairs and the spacious en-suite bathroom. The garage for up to two cars is accessible directly from the house and parking is also available in the street in front of the house entrance. Cleaning twice a week is included in the price. |
Getting there and around
2 hours flight from most European cities and 7 hours from New York, the Villa is reached by car from Lisbon Airport in 1 hour. Faro airport is 2.5 hours. A car is recommended to fully enjoy the many delights of the area. However many amenities and interesting visits can be done walking from the villa to Azeitão |
